What is the Brazil Visa Online?

The Brazil eVisa is no longer available. From June 17, 2019, travelers from the USA, Canada, Australia, and Japan will be able to enter Brazil for periods of up to 90 days without a Brazil eVisa or any other type of travel authorization. Previously, travelers from these 4 countries were required to apply online for an eVisa for Brazil to be able to enter the country.

The Brazil visa online was designed to simplify and quicken the process of obtaining a travel authorization to Brazil. However, the Brazilian Government has made the decision to make it even easier for traveler from the US, Canada, Australia, and Japan to enter the country by granting them visa-free access. This means there is no longer a need to obtain the Brazilian visa online.

For trips which are longer than 90 days, or if someone wishes to live, work or settle in Brazil, there are other types of Brazil visas which are available. Applications can be made at Brazilian embassies and consulates and applicants must meet the basic Visa Brazil requirements.

Who needs to apply for a Brazilian Visa Online?

Since the Brazilian Government’s decision to grant citizens from the US, Canada, Australia, and Japan visa-free access into the country, there is no longer a need for anyone to obtain a Brazil eVisa as citizens from these countries were the only 4 eligible nationalities.

The majority of nationalities still need to obtain some form of visa to be able to enter Brazil. However, the eVisa for Brazil is no longer available for any nationalities.

The Government of Brazil decided to grant visa-free access to travelers from the US, Canada, Australia, and Japan because the 4 nationalities pose little risk and can help to significantly boost tourism in Brazil.
