The online application for the Brazil online visa is quick and straightforward to complete. However, an area which can cause delay is the photo applicants need to send to complete the Brazil visa application.
The photo must meet some very specific requirements, or it will be rejected. If this happens, the applicant will need to send another photo and this will cause a delay.
To avoid the hassle of having to send an additional photo, applicants should be aware of the Brazil visa photo specifications. Below, you can learn how to make sure the first photo you send is accepted.
Brazil Visa Photo Requirements
Applicants must send a photo which meets all of the following specifications before their Brazil eVisa is approved:
- The photo must be sharp and in focus, not blurry, covered, cropped, folded, or ghosted.
- The applicant must be looking straight into the camera.
- The position of the face and shoulders must be straight and not at an angle.
- The photo must be taken against a white background.
- The top of the head, including the hair, to the bottom of the chin must be between 50% and 60% of the image’s total height.
- The eye height should be between 50% and 60% of the image’s height(measured from the bottom of the image to the level of the eyes).
- There must not be any reflections, shadows or glare in the photo.
- The facial expression must be neutral (no smiling).
- Eyes must be open and visible.
- If the candidate wears glasses they must not reflect any light.
- Dark glasses, tinted glasses, and thick frames are not acceptable.
- Headgear is unacceptable unless it is worn for religious reasons. If this is the case it must not block a clear view of the applicant’s face.
- Children cannot appear with toys, pacifiers, or the hands or someone else holding them.
Please note that Brazilian authorities will accept black and white photos, photos taken more than 6 months ago, or a photo cropped from a passport. However, these photos must meet the other criteria listed above.
Key Specification: Shoulders Must Be Included in the Photo
Many candidates send photos which only include their face and neck, and not their shoulders. These photographs are not accepted.
At the same time, candidates cannot include too much of the upper-body. The face needs to be the central feature of the photo.
There is, therefore, a fine line between what is acceptable and what is not. To be safe, candidates should make sure that the shoulders are in the photo, but that the area below the top of the armpit is not.
It is also essential that the candidate’s shoulders are straight and not at an angle. It is not a problem if the outside edges of the arms are not in the photo..
